Brianna Taylor lives in the Real World…literally.  She is currently on the long-running MTV reality show.  She auditioned for
the show only to accompany her friend who asked her to try-out with him.  Well, unfortunately for Brianna’s friend, she was
chosen as a cast member.  Brianna decided the show would be a good career move to help with her music and to help
her grow as a person.

StarShine had the chance to sit down with Brianna before her show with fellow former American Idol contestant, Blake
Lewis.  Though Brianna only lasted three weeks on the show in Season 5, she has no hard feelings and thinks of it as a
good experience.

In between interview questions, talking to Brianna was like talking to a friend.  She shared her opinions on everything from
shoes to music.  If we learned one important thing, it’s don’t get Brianna started on hip-hop mogul Diddy.  “Diddy is a
punk and I can’t stand him.  He’s not real.”  She says passionately.  She also said if Bad Boy came knocking on her door
with a record deal, she would turn them down.

Unlike Brianna’s thoughts on Diddy, she is anything but fake.  She’s down-to-earth and extremely friendly, unless you
mess with her, of course.  Brianna‘s motto is simple: “It takes 42 muscles to make an angry face.  It takes 4 muscles to
extend your arm and slap that b*tch in the face.”  It’s this same motto that has Brianna on probation and going to anger
management.

Now onto much greener pastures…Brianna’s music!  “I wanted to do something different.” Says the eclectic singer from
right outside Philadelphia.  “Lauryn Hill mixed with alternative.” She describes.  Brianna’s musical background is all over
the place from rap to rock to jazz and classical.  One of her earliest memories was of her “Grand-pop” singing jazz.  “I
would listen to him and tap my foot to the beat.”

A former exotic dancer and with an ex-boyfriend who abused her, Brianna Taylor hasn’t had a smooth life.  “I haven’t had
the worst life, but I haven’t had the greatest either.” She says.  Brianna’s life experiences are showcased on her self-titled
debut EP.  From rock out jam, “Tragic” to the balladry of “Summertime”, Brianna reveals there’s more to her than just
another reality TV star.  “This is the only thing I’ve ever wanted.” She says of her singing career.

Brianna’s favorite song of hers is hands down “Story Of My Life”.  “The overall tone of the song is really everything I’ve
been struggling with.  It’s just great that I can project something that I’ve been feeling and people can relate to it.” She says.

At the Canal Room in New York City that night, Brianna performed an acoustic set for an intimate crowd.  She was natural
and relaxed onstage.  Fans sang along to the songs, and so did StarShine!  “Tragic” has been stuck in our heads for
days now, which is the song Brianna would dedicate to her fans.  “It’s really upbeat and it’s a fun song to rock out to.”
Brianna says.  “We’ve all met guys who are like, are you kidding me?  He doesn’t pay for anything.  He’s a crappy
boyfriend.”

After the show, Brianna mingled with friends and family before hanging out with the fans.  She was all smiles and
energetic, which was a miracle considering she was going on no sleep from the night before.  “The thing that makes me
most happy is when people message me on MySpace and say ‘hey, you definitely helped me get over this tough point in
my life,” Brianna shared with us earlier that day.  That makes me feel so good.  I just want to change people’s lives and
that’s why I always get involved in people’s drama.” Brianna rationalizes.
