Of course, no one is hotter in Hip-Hop right now than Lil Wayne. It was no
surprise he was a main attraction on stage at Summer Jam. He was creative,
unique, and crazy. What more could you ask for?
Giants Stadium, home of the reigning 2008 Super bowl Champions, the New York Giants hosted
Hot 97’s Summer Jam this year. It was a beautiful day as Hip-Hop and R&B superstars prepared
to grace the stage in New Jersey.
First on stage were Ray J and Yung Berg. They performed hits like “Sexy Can I”, “Sexy Lady”, and
Ray J’s hit “One Wish”. The Dream followed next on stage with dancers and performed hit songs
such as “Shawty is the Shhh” and “Falsetto”. Following The Dream, R&B all-star Alicia Keys blew
up the stage and brought out new artist Maino, before introducing Rap legends Method Man,
Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon. Maino performed his hit single “Hi Haters” and group members
of Wu-Tang Clan performed classic songs such as “Cream” and “Ice Cream Deluxe”.
Sheek Louch and Styles P came on stage next performing some old school Lox songs and also
new hits. They were then joined on stage by Fabolous, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Red Café, and N.O.R.
E. Swizz Beats came out to perform “Blow Ya Mind” with Styles P. Another special guest was LL
Cool J. He possibly received the loudest applause of the night as he performed “Head Sprung”.
T-Pain followed next, performing a few of his own songs then quickly bringing on stage DJ Khaled,
once again, Fat Joe, Akon, Shawty Lo, and Rick Ross.
After Kanye West and T-Pain, you would think the show was over--wrong!
Public Enemy took the stage followed by Jim Jones who closed the show with
New York Giants’ 2007 season anthem, “Ballin”. Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2008
was a great success. It only leaves you wondering how they are going to top it
next year.
After playing his guitar and performing Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”, Kanye West
joined Lil Wayne to perform “Lollipop (Remix)”. Kanye then followed up with his own set featuring
crazy lighting effects and a live band. He performed songs “Jesus Walks”, “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”
and “Stronger” before bringing Young Jeezy on stage to perform the new single, “Put On”. Kanye
also brought T-Pain back onstage to perform their hit “Good Life”.
