Interview with Anna Sundstrand
By Sandy Lo Grasso
Editor-In-Chief
March 2006
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): How are you today Anna?
Anna Sundstrand: I'm very good! I'm so happy about the show. It went really well, so I'm all happy! How are you?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): I'm very good. You know what I just realized? I have fan questions for you! [Gets up to get the questions.]
Anna Sundstrand: Oh you do? How exciting!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): I knew I was forgetting something. [Sits back down with the questions] Here we go. Alright so...First, let's talk a little bit more about the show. You thought the crowd response was pretty good tonight?
Anna Sundstrand: The crowd was amazing! They always are. They're really supportive. I love them! Good support!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): And you have your StarShine Readers’ Choice award with you tonight?
Anna Sundstrand: I do! And I'm so happy. I'm so thrilled, it's amazing! Thank you StarShine Magazine! [Laughs]
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): You're welcome. So how's your solo career going?
Anna Sundstrand: It's going really well. I've been home for a while -- just three weeks actually. [Laughs] I was recording a little bit. I recorded this new song that's called "Press Rewind". I think you heard it, right?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Yes!
Anna Sundstrand: Yeah, this one is an upbeat song; really different from "Say It Again" which is a ballad. So I'm really excited. On Monday, we're going to start working on the choreography to “Press Rewind”. I'm really happy. You know, kind of like a big new show, like a big performance. I'm very excited. A lot of things have been going on. We're planning this huge tour.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): That must be exciting!
Anna Sundstrand: I'm SO thrilled!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Very cool. I know your birthday just passed.
Anna Sundstrand: Oh yes!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): You turned seventeen.
Anna Sundstrand: I did, I did. The birthday was fun. Just back home in Sweden with my friends. We had a huge dinner for me and a lot of presents. It was great. I feel SO much older! [Laughs] No, not really. I do feel a little bit older, though.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): [Laughs] When I first met you, you were fourteen I think...
Anna Sundstrand: Yeah. I can't believe I started in Play when I was like twelve, no I was eleven actually. And now I'm seventeen...it feels so--now I feel old, okay? [Laughs] Wow.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Well, I was about seventeen when I first saw you in concert opening for Aaron Carter.
Anna Sundstrand: Mmm-hmm. So you remember the feeling?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Yes, I do. [Laughs] Now I'm twenty-three so...
Anna Sundstrand: Alright, we're all still young so...
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Okay, so now let's go to the fan questions. The first one is from Valerie Torstenson from Seattle, Washington. She asks how often do you hear and see of the other girls from Play. Do you ever get together just three or four of you?
Anna Sundstrand: Well actually, Anais is my neighbor. So I see her pretty much everyday. She walks her dog, we talk and everything. Janet I don't see as much because she lives in Gothenburg. Faye lives in another part of Stockholm, so it's really hard to meet up with her. But I see her sometimes at parties. There are times I meet up with Rosie, though. I had coffee with her like three weeks ago. We're all really good friends, so no hard feelings.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): The next question is from Ashley Morgan from Connecticut. Do you and Chris [Trousdale] plan on recording any songs together for your solo album or Chris' album?
Anna Sundstrand: Yes, we are. Some really great writers are working on a really good ballad for Chris and I as a duet, so...definitely. We'll see.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): I know your management was saying that you guys were going to be doing a lot of stuff together in the future. Do solo, but yet do duets together too.
Anna Sundstrand: Oh yeah, we'll do both!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): The next question is from Samantha Moccio, also from Connecticut. She says I just wanted to know are you planning to move to New York City to pursue your solo career or are you going to stay in Sweden?
Anna Sundstrand: I definitely want to move. I want to move really badly. [Laughs] I mean I love Sweden, but I like New York so much and I have so many friends here now. But I don't want to leave my friends in Sweden though, so it's a big dilemma there. I might move in a year or two, but right now I still live in Sweden because I'm so young. But when I turn eighteen...you never know what the future holds.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Is your mom thinking of moving with you?
Anna Sundstrand: Maybe. I think she wants to live in Sweden, but we'll see. You never really know. I might move to Hawaii, I don't know. [Laughs] You never know. I'm trying to live in the now and see what tomorrow holds.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Very nice. Let's see...the next question is from Anna Lallone from Rochester, New Hampshire. She says my eighteenth birthday is April 26th. Can you just wish me a happy birthday? She says she'll be a happy camper. [Laughs]
Anna Sundstrand: Aww. I wish you the best birthday ever. I wish you a lot of presents and just a great birthday. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): The next one is from Elaine Rach from Dark Forest, Illinois. She wants to know who you're dating...if you're dating anyone. [Laughs]
Anna Sundstrand: No, not really. No.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Okay. Who would you date if you could date anyone?
Anna Sundstrand: That's hard! Hmm...Chad Michael Murray.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Very cool.
Anna Sundstrand: Definitely.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): This is the last question. It's from Kay Kay from Honolulu, Hawaii...where you might move one day. [Anna and Sandy laugh]
Anna Sundstrand: Oh yeah. Because you never know, right?
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Exactly. What is the most embarrassing moment you've ever had?
Anna Sundstrand: Oh God, I had too many to remember. [Laughs] I just do embarrassing things all the time, like I fall down the stairs or I trip.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): [Laughs] We all do it.
Anna Sundstrand: We all do it and nothing like really big--well, actually I dropped my mic once onstage.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Did it make a loud noise?
Anna Sundstrand: It did! We put on like the most amazing show ever and at the end I dropped my mic and it just destroyed the whole thing. It was really embarrassing and everybody started laughing. It was really bad, but we made a joke out of it and it turned out to be good. So it's okay.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Cool. Well, that's it. That's all the fan questions. Thank you so much. Good luck with everything.
Anna Sundstrand: Thank you so much. Thank you StarShine Magazine.
Sandy (StarShine Magazine): So nice to see you again.
Anna Sundstrand: Nice to see you too.
