2008 StarShine Magazine Music Award Winners Revealed; Backstreet Boys Blow Away
Competition; Other winners include Elliott Yamin, Jordin Sparks, Jesse McCartney & One

ASTORIA, NY--November 7, 2008--With over 20,000 voters all over the world, StarShine Magazine’s Music Awards this year
broke records for the website: www.StarShineMag.com. “We definitely had the most voters this year than any other year,”
StarShine editor, Sandy Lo says. With a diverse reader base of ages 12-40, StarShine has something for everyone.
“Readers have commented how they love the diverse list of artists we had nominated this year,” says Sandy.
Although Hanson and Elliott Yamin had the most nominations, the Backstreet Boys take home the most awards with 6 for
their latest album, Unbreakable (2007) including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year. The Backstreet Boys also receive
StarShine’s Shining Star Award for Lifetime Achievement in the magazine. “BSB have been around for fifteen years now and
StarShine has been going for seven,” Sandy explains. “Since the start of the magazine, the Backstreet Boys have had a
predominant following from our readers.” The Backstreet Boys prove to still have a devout following. They beat out some of
today’s top stars like the Jonas Brothers, Danity Kane and Jordin Sparks.
Elliott Yamin grabs 3 awards this year for Favorite Male Artist, Independent Artist of the Year and Best New Artist. He beat
out fellow American Idol alumni Blake Lewis and teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney. Jordin Sparks claims the Favorite
Female Artist award knocking out Katy Perry, while Jesse McCartney gets Best Dance Song for his hit single, “Leavin’”
winning over Danity Kane’s “Damaged“. Other winners are Simple Plan (Best Rock Song for “Your Love Is A Lie”), One
Republic (Best Collaboration with Timbaland and Best R&B/Hip-Hop Song for “Apologize”) and Ryan Cabrera (Independent
Song of the Year for “Say”).
StarShine’s staff will be distributing the award trophies, which are provided by Action Trophies & Awards, to the winners
later this year and will be obtaining acceptance speeches.
